Hello All!
Welcome to our blog Adding Arrows.
My name is Jaime and my husbands name
is Gary
and we have been married for eleven
years. We love to travel (although we don't do as much as we would like to),
eat out, watch movies, and spend time with friends and family. We have one
son, named Shawn, whom we adopted from China over three years ago. He is our
first "arrow". We named our blog, Adding Arrows, after the verse
Psalm 127: 3-5.
Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children
born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
Early in our marriage we knew adoption was the way we would grow our family. In January of 2011 we started our first adoption, but shortly after the process Gary was laid off twice from his construction job. Thankfully, he quickly found another job but it was short lived lasting only 6 months. Unfortunately, the second lay off lasted much longer causing us to put our adoption on hold for 7 months. We were heartbroken.
Then in April of 2012 Gary received a call that he had a job. Shortly after his first week we called our agency and started our adoption again. That May we would be matched with a boy born with a cleft lip and palate.
We named him Shawn meaning God's gracious gift.
What happened next would surprise both us and our agency. Over the summer of 2012 our paper work sailed though and we would be approved for travel just five months after seeing Shawn's face for the first time.
Fast forward to January 2016. Here we are over 3 years later and ready to embark on the adoption of our second son. We are at the very beginning of the process and are so excited that you are going to be a part of our journey from the start.
